Claremont has a rich history. The area now known as Claremont was first inhabited by the indigenous Tongva people. In the late 1700s, Spanish explorers arrived in the area and established the San Gabriel Mission. In the 1800s, Claremont became a popular stop on the stagecoach route between Los Angeles and San Bernardino. The city was officially incorporated in 1907, and since then it has grown into a thriving community known for its tree-lined streets, excellent schools, and cultural amenities.
